Sharing Toys.
Sharing clothes.
Sharing bedrooms.
Sharing a birthday.
Sharing your parents attention.
“it must be so cool being able to share your sister’s clothes”
“what’s it like sharing a birthday?”
Having to share all the time can lead to feelings of resentment, because your needs as an individual get overlooked.
Having to share could mean that you feel helpless once you are finally given autonomy, because you’ve never been allowed to make a choice.
Having to share may enhance feelings of posessiveness over things you do have that are your own, with increased resistance to having to share.
Perhaps you don’t feel you deserve your own things.
Being a twin is difficult, so many ways of being are imposed on us because it is easier for other people, but greatly affects how we develop a sense of self worth and belonging.
Ultimately, by having to share even simple things like someone buying us one birthday present because we would end up sharing it anyway, made me feel like half a person.
